The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday told the Madras High Court that the Representative High Commission for Sri Lanka in Chennai has given a brief travel record for T Suthenthiraraja moniker Santhan, one of the six liberated convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi death case.
Such travel reports, the State said, will empower it extradite Santhan to Sri Lanka.
Santhan, a Sri Lankan public, was delivered in November 2022 following a request for the High Court. He has remained on in a detainment camp in Tamil Nadu since he doesn’t have a substantial identification and essential travel reports to return home.
Extra Open Examiner (Application) R Muniyapparaj told a Seat of Judges R Suresh Kumar and K Kumaresh Babu that the Sri Lankan Delegate High Commission had composed a letter to the State government on February 2 this year, saying that it had given the essential travel records for Santhan. The movement records, the Application said, were substantial till August 1 this year.
The Application further presented that the State government had sent such letter to the Outsiders Territorial Enlistment Official (FRRO) in Chennai on February 9.
The Court then, at that point, in truth time till February 29 to the FRRO, addressed by Extra Specialist General ARL Sundaresan, to take guidelines on when a leave license can be given for Santhan so he can be sent back to Sri Lanka.
