Rahul Gandhi has met grappler Bajrang Punia in the midst of the continuous honor return binge by the grapplers over the WFI surveys.
As the grapplers proceed with their determined dissent against the Wrestling Organization of India (WFI) surveys with a few grapplers returning their honors, Congress pioneer Rahul Gandhi arrived at the Virender Arya Akhara in the Chhara town of Haryana’s Jhajjar region and collaborated with grapplers including Bajrang Punia who drove the dissent against previous WFI boss Brij Bhushan.
Bajrang Poonia said, “He came to see our wrestling routine…He did wrestling…He came to see the everyday exercises of a grappler.”
On the visit of the Congress chief, Wrestling Trainer Virendra Arya said, “No one let us know that he’s coming. We were rehearsing here and he came all of a sudden…He arrived at here around 6:15 am…He practiced with us and afterward he informed us concerning his activity and game. He has a great deal of information about sports…Nationals will occur however how might be managed this issue at hand?… What could he (Rahul Gandhi) do, just the public authority can follow through with something.”
On Tuesday, double cross title holder Vinesh Phogat chose to return her Khel Ratna and Arjuna grant to the Head of the state, saying such distinctions have become good for nothing when grapplers are battling gravely for equity.
Phogat’s choice comes after Olympic medallist Punia and Deafylmpics champion Virender Singh Yadav returned their Padma Shri grants and Rio Games bronze medallist Sakshi Malik said she would stop the game after Brij Bhushan Singh’s helper Sanjay Singh was chosen as WFI president on December 21.
Sanjay Singh’s political race was met with furious fights by the grapplers as they said they didn’t believe that a partner of Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan should enter the wrestling body.
Brij Bhushan was blamed for lewd behavior by the grapplers and was in the eye of the tempest during the long-drawn fight requesting his acquiescence by grapplers at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar early this year.
Nonetheless, as of late Bhushan said he was not associated with wrestling any longer as the fights proceeded.
