Delhi High Court orders Rajdeep Sardesai to take down video against Shazia Ilmi

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday requested writer Rajdeep Sar Desai and news network India Today to bring down a video transferred by Sar Desai via virtual entertainment showing Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) pioneer Shazia Ilmi supposedly “manhandling” an India Today video columnist.

Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora passed the request after Ilmi moved the Court for slander.

In the past hearing, the High Court had asked Sar Desai and India Today guidance to put the full unedited video on record.

The video was put on record today and the Court subsequent to watching it, thought that the video was recorded by India Today cameraperson after Ilimi had eliminated herself from the show.

“This court is likewise of the assessment that since the video was recorded after the offended party [Ilmi] had eliminated herself from the show, the occurrence of the occasions was placed a matter between the offended party and Litigant 12 (Cameraperson) and furthermore the issue of the protection of the offended party is a matter which the court might want to hear Respondent, Litigant 2 and Respondents 12’s entries on,” the Court noted.

Since SarDesai counsel looked for a deferment regarding this situation, the Court coordinated that the video transferred via virtual entertainment ought to be eliminated till Ilmi’s application for break alleviation is chosen.

“In the interregnum, considering the solicitation for deferment made by the guidance, D1 (Sardesai) is coordinated to bring down the video transferred on his virtual entertainment post until the removal of this application [interim alleviation application],” the Court requested

The question emerged from a July 26 discussion held by Sardesai on India Today on the governmental issues over Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Triumph Day). The program additionally talked about issues of Agniveer and politicization of the safeguard powers.

Sardesai and Ilmi conflicted as the BJP representative mediated while Significant General (Resigned) Yash Mor was calling attention to the deficiencies in the Agniveer plot. As Ilmi mediated, Sardesai said that the previous General was advancing “hard realities”.

Ilmi answered, “Don’t lecture”.

A warmed contention followed between the columnist and Ilmi for a few minutes, after which Ilmi left the show.
