A notorious contract killer, carrying a Rs 1 lakh bounty and wanted for the murder of a cloth merchant, was gunned down in a police encounter in Pilibhit. Sarvjeet alias Shivam, 23, opened fire on police during a chase, injuring two officers before being fatally shot. He was allegedly involved in eliminating a cycle trader over a dowry dispute, leading to the accidental death of the merchant who intervened.
