The Supreme Court today discarded as infructuous a supplication documented by Senior Advocate Nalini Chidambaram (wife of ex-Finance Minister P Chidambaram) against ED summons expecting her to show up external her conventional spot of home. It could be reviewed that she has been roped in by offices comparable to the Sharadha chit fund trick case.
A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma passed the request, on being educated by Senior Advocate Kapil Sibel (Appearing for Chidambaram) that arraignment grumbling has been documented for the situation and Chidambaram has been named as a charged in that.
The matter has become infructuous. The grievance has been filed…she has been named as accused…Now there is no doubt of calling her (as an observer)”, said Sibel.
Extra Specialist General SV Raju (for ED) didn’t question the accommodation made by Sibel. In that capacity, the bench recorded the proclamations of the direction and discarded the matter as infructuous.
On the last date of hearing, Sibel submitted under the watchful eye of the court that Chidambaram went through a knee medical procedure which made it unimaginable for her to embrace air travel to Calcutta in light of the request.
Accordingly, ASG Raju said something in the interest of ED that Chidambaram won’t be called to Calcutta till the next date. From there on, the arraignment grumbling was documented in the PMLA case and the matter became infructuous
